Jeff's Christmas ListLast updated: November 30, 2006. Treo 650My phone. It does all kinds of things, and there are endless web pages and products for it. A few things I could use:A licensed copy of pTunes. A headset/headphone for the treo. Seido makes a few great products, like the 2-in-1 Earbud Headphones. GPS system. There are many bundles, but please make sure it's a Tom Tom system. None of them is cheap. SkiingI would love to have a backpack for day skiing at big resorts. Just big enough for water, power bars, an orange or two, or whatever. One of those camelback hydration packs would be great.I have this unrealistic dream of back-country skiing. In Virginia? Hard to make that happen here. But an avalanche course is kind of the place to start. A trip to Vermont or Colorado for a class would be awesome! older stuff - but still wanted!MusicCornettoOne day I'd like to be a cornetto player. You can read more about this crazy idea on my Pico page. I want a cornetto, a soprano and an alto recorder, and piles of books of songs and general information on the instruments. The focus of my interest is on medieval music. The best prices I have seen on Cornetti are from the Early Music Shop. (Click on "price list" then "brass".) They also have a used instrument section, which as I write this has a cornettino for only 90 pounds! For tons more links to places selling cornetti, just put "resin cornetto" into google and away you go. The non-resin ones are outrageously expensive. (Be aware that by "tons" I mean "a few reasonable ones among tons of unreasonable ones. Prepare to spend some quality time sifting though websites. You can't exactly swing by Cornetti-R-Us and pick up a $10 model like you can for the instrument listed below.) Last updated: August 22, 2005. RecorderAn endless list of desireable books about the recorder can be found by going to amazon.com and putting "medieval recorder" into the search box. Instruction, music to play, history of the instrument, and CDs of medieval (or early rennaisance) music are all nice ideas. CDs don't have to be just recorder music. Generally, any medieval music is good! HistoryBritonI'm intersted in improving my understanding of medieval Briton, and tying my real ancestry in to my Anachronist hobby. Anything furthering this is a good thing, whether store bought or home made.MedievalBooks with big glossy pictures of medieval art are wonderful things. You can't go wrong buying me one! Any "book of hours" is a good thing, too.FitnessLife in GeneralThe biggest stumbling block I face every day is the mess in my house. If I had a maid service come in every week to clean, a large part of that mess would go away: either directly by sponge and vacuum, or indirectly because I would keep things more organized if someone was coming in to clean up every week. In terms of improving my quality of life, this may be the best present anyone could buy. |
